Protect Your Harvest with Watts & Kennedy Agencies

At Watts & Kennedy Agencies, we understand the significance of safeguarding your crops and your livelihood. As representatives of three prominent crop insurance writers in Montana, we offer comprehensive coverage to protect your crops against unforeseen perils. Our agents specialize in writing both Multi Peril Crop Insurance (MPCI) and hail insurance policies through these reputable carriers.

Multi Peril Crop Insurance (MPCI) Guidelines: MPCI is a federally sponsored crop insurance program that provides essential coverage for farmers like you. It’s crucial to be aware of the following guidelines when obtaining MPCI coverage through our agency:

  1. Deadline Awareness: Deadlines for purchasing a new MPCI policy or transferring from one company to another vary by crop. For wheat signup or transfers, the deadline is usually in Fall (Sept. 30) for most Montana counties, except for a few in the far northeast part of the state. Spring signups or transfers, including wheat in the northeast corner, are typically due by March 15. Remember, you are allowed only one transfer per crop year between companies, so make sure to consider this decision carefully.
  2. Importance of MPCI Policy: The MPCI policy holds paramount importance when discussing crop insurance with our agents. Most MPCI companies require you to carry their policy before considering a crop hail policy for any of your crops.
